Project of Japan Science and Technology Center Building a Base for Training Strategic Environmental Leaders "East Asia Environmental Strategist Training Program"

Project overview: In this project, the Research Institute for East Asia Environments (RIEAE) of Kyushu University is taking the initiative in establishing a training program consisting of systematic curricula, practical seminars, and research guidance on environmental issues in collaboration with partnering universities, international research institutes, and companies. The environmental leaders to be trained in this program are environmental specialists (environmental strategists) with the competence required to solve environmental issues internationally and strategically through their extensive knowledge of the reality of environmental issues, technologies for them, and systems governing them in East Asia. All graduates of this program will continue their careers by putting their acquired knowledge to work by organizing environmental measures in governments, research institutes, and companies. This program will provide students with the opportunity to participate in RIEAE-led international research projects and work for an international agency as an intern, in addition to providing exposure to a wide range of knowledge that covers both natural science and social science.; This program will accept five graduate students for the doctorate course, 10 for the master's course, and five for the basic course every year. A total of 70 graduate students will be trained in this program for a period of five years.
