If we assume that the Earth is a ball of 1meter in diameter, the amount of fresh water is less than one spoonful. Thus water is a precious resource. Water environment constitutes of various components - quality, quantity, organisms, bottom material, waterfront - and they must be preserved as a whole.
At Urban-Environmental-Engineering Laboratory, comprehensive preservation of water environment is being researched, with the use of various technologies, such as environmental purification, comprehensive water management, and sewerage treatment, from a macro-scale of urban ecosystems to a micro-scale of microbial ecosystems.
Wastewater Treatment
“Advanced Sewerage Treatment by Denitrification and Aerotropic Granules
Efficient use of denitrificated and dephosphorized
Comprehensive Water Management
“Local Water Cycle and Preservation of Water Environment"
As basic unit of water management is a basin and thus overhead view of "integrative water management“ as a whole is required.
Environmental Purification
"Selective Elimination of Oestrogen-like Substances by using Molecular Recognition Ability of the Supermolecules"
